About Mitchell of Kirkintilloch Tree
Please sign in to see more. This tree has been under development for a few year.
It is based on John Anderson Mitchell and his wife Irene Cameron Brydon.
The Mitchell side goes back through Dougans and Milroys from Wigtownshire and Anderson / Stirling / Prymrois from Edinburgh. The early Milroys were Covenanters some of whom were exiles as slaves to the West Indies. The Primrose (Prymroise) have links to Robert The Bruce's family. Later Milroys married Gibsons who were lairds of Hillhead in Glasgow (hence Gibson Street).
The Brydens, spelled with an -e- until late 19th century, were mainly miners from south Ayrshire - Dailly. Some went to work in the mines of Pennsylvania (Scranton) forming a branch of the family there. Others moved to Glasgow to work in engineering or shipbuilding with another branch moving to work in Newcastle area.
The Keay side is mainly based in Perthshire.
